About the Book

Cooperation, Environment, and Sustainability in Border Regions is based on papers presented late in 1999 at the San Diego meeting of the Border Regions in Transition (BRIT) group, an international network of border specialists.

The volume examines transborder cooperation, environmental concerns, and sustainable development across the U.S.-Mexican border region, European border regions, the Baltic region, Russian-Finnish border areas, and Asian border regions. It also includes essays on methodological and theoretical approaches to border research.
