SDSU Press Open Source
A New Digital/Analog Initiative from San Diego State University Press
San Diego State University Press publishes select scholarly books as open access, making them freely available online while also offering traditional print and retail editions. All open access titles published by SDSU Press undergo the same rigorous editorial and peer review process as traditionally published books. Open access does not alter standards of quality, review, or intellectual rigor.
SDSU Press Open Access editions are published under Creative Commons licenses, which clearly specify how the work may be read, shared, and reused. License details appear on each book’s landing page and within the digital edition.
SDSU Press assigns Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to its open access books. A DOI is a permanent, persistent identifier that ensures a publication remains discoverable and citable over time, even if website locations change. Each DOI resolves to an official SDSU Press landing page for the book and is registered with an international DOI registration agency used by scholarly publishers worldwide.
Why Open Access?
Open access publishing expands SDSU Press global readership beyond institutional paywalls and increases citation and classroom use. This initiative shows our institutional commitment to public scholarship and knowledg and preserves academic work in trusted repositories.
Print and paid digital editions remain available for readers and libraries who prefer traditional formats.
Peer Review Statement: All SDSU Press Open Source titles are externally peer reviewed in accordance with the editorial standards of San Diego State University Press.
