ENGLISH 494 MILLENNIUM VIRUS STUDENTS

Attend David Carrasco's lecture.  Write a two-page short speculative analysis wherein you adapt some specific element of Dr. Carrasco's  critical method, thematic focus, and/or semiotic tactic and apply it to one of the works we have encountered this semester.  Your essay is due on Friday, November 5, 1999 at 12noon, under the door of my office, 4117 Adams Humanities.

1. So as to wipe away one of your marked absences, attend the Robert Coover event Thursday night, October 7, 1999.  In order to receive your absolution, you must walk up to me, say hello, introduce me cordially to your friends and ask for the mysterious token.  Later in the semester you may redeem that token in office hours and be utterly absolved for your skipping one class. 2.Attend the CD record release party for the TACO SHOP POETS, Saturday, OCTOBER 9, 1999, 7 to 10pm at the CULY BUILDING, 338 7nth Avenue, DOWNTOWN San Diego, CA.  All ages are welcome and admission is free--your somewhat attention starved professor will be the MC.  assignment: You are a theater arts reviewer for The Los Angeles Times,The Village Voiceor for The Nation. In one to two typewritten pages, review this performance/event.  Your review is due TUESDAY, OCTOBER 12, 1999 in class.

 
   

3. Attend and review one panel/performance from the CRISIS CARNIVAL conference Friday &Saturday, October 8-9, 1999.  Your two page review/analysis is due Tuesday, October 19, 1999 in class.  More Info?
